Alter Bridge Pawns & Kings Tour Rocks Long Island

Alter Bridge brings Pawns & Kings with Mammoth WVH and Red to Pollstar #1 Worldwide Club of 2022, The Paramount

Alter Bridge are selling out the Pawns & Kings Tour across the US and what better place to play in New York then the, Pollstar #1 Worldwide Club of 2022, The Paramount,  in Huntington NY.

After releasing Prawns in the fall followed by a successful tour in Europe with Halestorm and Mammouth WVH it’s no surprise this rock and roll train keeps rolling through North America . Granted this Tour doesn’t include Halestorm but with Mammoth WVH and Red in support it wasn’t surprising to see a packed house on Long Island.

First up; Red. Seeing Red over the years in festivals they have always brought a great energy. A Nashville based Christian rock band with nearly a dozen albums under their belts and although their time was short, it was a powerful set with a good representation of their catalog. If you’re going to this show get their early as they go on promptly at 7pm.

Mammoth WVH

Next up was Mammoth WVH and in all honesty, for me, this was what I was looking forward to most. Although I’m an Alter Bridge fan I’ve only gotten to see Mammoth WVH once before and was quite impressed. I was also able to catch Wolfie at the Taylor Hawkins tributes but that was totally different so I was looking forward to seeing the band again.

No question WVH and the Mammoth band are great musicians, Wolfie is a great song writer, and they came out and rocked NY. Playing about half their debut album with the highlight for most being the Grammy nominated ‘Distance’ my personal highlights were ‘You’re To Blame’ and ‘Epiphany’. The crowd was definitely into Mammoth singing the songs they knew while Wolfie was all smiles, seeming down to earth and very appreciative.

You’ll be seeing Mammoth for a long time but don’t miss a chance to see them, and Alter Bridge, on these smaller, more intimate, stages.

Speaking of Alter Bridge, they were in the house too and wow did they crush it. As I said, I’m a fan and looked forward to Mammoth but knew Alter Bridge would be amazing. It’s tough for a band with a long, career to come out and give fans a show they want. Fans tend to leave wishing they heard songs they didn’t but on this tour AB WILL NOT DISSAPPOINT. Yes, there is ALWAYS going to be a song you won’t hear this time around but AB is covering a lot of bases in this set.

Without giving away too many spoilers AB come out high energy kicking it off with ‘Silver Tongue’ from ‘Pawns & Kings.’ They proceeded to make their way through an hour and forty-five minute, 16 song, set list. The show has a good tempo and although a hard rock show the highlight for many, including myself, was an emotional Myles Kennedy, center stage, with just an acoustic singing ‘Watch Over You.’ The short acoustic set continued with Tremonti and eventually the rest of the band joining him for other songs but better then reading it, just go and be surprised.

There’s no question that after nearly two decades Alter Bridge and all it’s members are part of the hard rock foundation and aren’t going anywhere. Think about it, between, Myles Kennedy, Mark Tremonti, Brian Marshall and Scott Phillips you have Creed, Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, Slash, Submersed, Projected, Tremonti and a bunch of other appearances as well as  solo outings.

Speaking of SOLO outings and expanding musical horizons, it would be a huge miss for me not to mention Tremonti Sings Sinatra. I’ve posted aboutit here. And if you haven’t heard this you need to, Mark Tremonti steps away from the guitar and hard rock for an amazing cause. If you’re a Sinatra fan, a Tremonti fan, or just want to give back a little, I implore you to check it out. Additionally and you can experience Mark singing Sinatra live in New York on March 2nd at the Ziegfield Ballroom for the National Down Syndrome Society. You can purchase tickets and get all the details at www.ndss.org/gala!
